After the Carol

from The Wind in the Willows by GreenMatthews

/

lyrics

They finished their song and Rat said “Come along, Let’s get you inside where it’s warm.”
The mice didn’t need to be told twice and speedily Poured through the door in a swarm.
While Rat mulled some ale Mole asked them to retire And sit and refresh themselves next to the fire.
They drank and they talked all that could desire
Then merrily went on their way.

And Mole turned to Rat and hugged him close and tight And whispered his thanks for a wonderful night.
His homesickness cured and heart filled with delight
He made his way off to his bed.
